Wedding : Patricia & Wade

June 14th, 2010 | Posted in , Fort McMurray, Weddings | 13 Comments »

When Patricia and Wade got married on the May long weekend it was not just the joining of 2 individuals but the blending of two families.  Their four wonderful kids were included in their intimate wedding that was held at Heritage Park in Fort McMurray and they had a special sand ceremony to symbolize the joining of their families.

This was a wedding of firsts for me as it was the first wedding that I have photographed as a married woman….the first where the bride had a broken arm (she was amazing!)….and it was the first wedding that I have shot in a long time where the cake cutting went a little something like……well…..just look at the pictures below : )

The day began at Envisions Hair Salon, followed by a trip through the McDonald’s drive-thru (umm…doesn’t everyone go to McDonald’s wearing a tiara?) and then moved to their home to finish getting ready.  From there we went out on an adventure and attempted to keep warm while capturing the beauty of spring and this great couple and their wedding party.  After the ceremony we did family pictures in front of the church that Patricia’s parents and Wade’s grandparents were married in – what treasured memories that brought back for their family!  The reception ended with a performance by the Tyler Whelan Band.

I love seeing people in love and at a wedding you really do not have to look too hard to find them.  One of my favorite moments from this day was watching the bride’s grandma dance with her boyfriend at the reception. Oh she was beautiful!

Here is just a sneak peek at the day.

Patricia and Wade-  may this be a day that you cherish for the rest of your lives and the beginning of amazing things to come.

If mom and dad can do it….why can’t I?

Fort McMurray Spring Women’s Show

What a great event this was as so many people took time on a gorgeous weekend to stop by the Syncrude Sports and Wellness Center and be a part of the Spring Women’s Show.  I was extremely thankful that it was not -50C like it was for the last show I was in!

How fun it was to spend the weekend meeting new people and reconnecting with friends!  Thanks to all of you who stopped by : )

I also want to thank Danelle, Sheri and Erin for giving of their time to help out in the booth and keep me company.  They were fabulous and did such a wonderful job!

I was so proud to be a local exhibitor and to be one of Fort McMurray’s very own in this show!  Speaking of Fort McMurray’s local talent… featured a short distance away from me was local artist and incredibly talented painter, Amy Keller-Rempp.  I have the joy of working with her and her husband and will be featuring them on an upcoming blog!  In the meantime…here is a sneak peek at their booth that weekend.

Preschool Pictures

What is better than hanging out with 26 preschool kids?

Taking pictures of them, of course!

Now I am not a school photographer, but I did have the honor of spending the day with Sunny Smiles Preschool here in Fort McMurray and doing their school pictures for them.  I loved working with each of these little ones, photographing them and just getting to spend time with them!  Next time I am going to have to leave the camera behind and just hang out at the playground : )

They all did an amazing job and were so much fun to be with!  One of my favorite things from that day were all of their personalities!  How beautifully different and unique each of them were! I found myself wondering at different times what they might be when they “grow up”.

Here are just a few photographs from that fun day!

Desiring never to officially grow up,

Christine

Congratulations to the preschool graduating class of 2010!  I hope that you have a great summer and a fun year in Kindergarten!

The MacDougall Family

Oh this family makes me smile!   They are most definitely one of my favorite Fort McMurray families and I love their joy for life and family.

When I heard about their story – of how they have gone through the process of adopting these two children – the world “Celebrate” kept coming to mind…and continues to when I think of them.  How much this family has to celebrate!  This couple has now been blessed with children, whom they love and adore and are able to have the family that they have desired – and these two beautiful children now have  the parents, family and security that they so desperately desired.  It’s a win-win situation!

When we were designing their session and talking about things – I wanted to try and capture that essence of celebration….and so out came the balloons for some of their shots!  Seriously – what child (not to mention adult) does not like balloons :  )

Here are just a few of my favorites…..and yes, I am slightly biased to this little cutie that I fell in love with that day.

Wishing your family nothing but the best – especially as you move east.  Know that you will be missed here - but also know that you are going to be so deeply celebrated and cherished there.

Best Friends

May 27th, 2010 | Posted in , Fort McMurray, General | 1 Comment »

I would like to introduce you to Amber, Maria, Jordan and Stephanie.  These four are best friends and inseparable!  They love spending time together and seem to have almost a sister-like relationship.

What an incredible idea they had when deciding to capture their friendship at this stage in their lives!  I wish that more people would take time to do that.

Their shoot made me think of my closest friends from over the years and how fun it would have been (or would be) to do something like this together.  I think that often we are so busy enjoying these relationships that we forget to take time to preserve them at various moments and stages…in whatever form desired.

May we learn from these high school students and remember to cherish and value our friends.

Make the time to write a note to say how much you appreciate someone, or pick up the phone and call – or better yet – give them the precious gift of your time.

Take time to celebrate friendship today!
